“Imagine me happy, if you must” is a performance that confronts the unbearable imperative of happiness we are constantly subjected to, while exploring the possibilities of the medium when even presence is from afar.
Developed in two different versions, the 30 minutes performances are either live-streamed from the laptop webcam, or occurring in a virtual room.
In the first case, I directly address the audience, as if we were having yet another zoom call, while in the other I employ an avatar of myself which I remotely move and give voice to.
In both cases, these versions of me walk up and down the stairs while interpreting a short text and looping it multiple times.
In order to document the virtual room performance I asked Luca Miranda, a machinima artist, to use the camera tool built in the platform.
